Frequently Asked Questions
What is the membership period?
All memberships are for the calendar year – 1 January – 31 December. If you join during the year, your membership will be due for renewal by 31 December for the following year.
Will I be advised that my membership is due for renewal?
Yes, we will issue emails to members around mid-November each year, inviting members to check/update their details, and renew their membership for the coming year.
I want to join the APS in July (or later in the year)?
Membership fees are adjusted from July each year, meaning you will be charged 50% of the full year fee for the first period of membership. Your membership will be due for renewal for the next full year at the full year fee.
My income level has changed, and I need to change my membership type accordingly?
You will need to email the APS office – aps@apsoc.org.au – and advise of your new income level, we will update your membership type, and if a renewal invoice has already been issued, we will cancel that and issue a new one at the correct level.
I’ve lost my invoice for membership, and need it to lodge my tax return?
Do I get a Membership certificate?
Does my membership mean I get a discount to the APS Annual Scientific Meeting?
Yes! As an APS member you will receive discounted registration to the APS Annual Scientific Meeting – you must ensure your membership has been renewed for the year that the ASM is being held in.
How can I find my member number?
I’m registering for an APS event (webinar, seminar etc) but am being shown non-member price?
In order to receive member pricing, you must use the email address we have on record for your membership – even if you have provided a secondary email address – you need to register with the primary one – the one you use to login to the members area.
I’ve changed my email address – how do I update my profile?
Just send an email to apsoc.org.au – advising of the new email address, and we will update it for you – and confirm when this is done!
Can I pay my membership by EFT rather than on a debit/credit card?
Yes! Our bank details for payment by EFT are on the bottom of our invoice – please ensure you use the invoice number as the reference number.
