APS Rising Star Award Application

The APS Rising Star Award celebrates outstanding emerging pain researchers in Australia who are demonstrating excellence, innovation, leadership, and impact in pain research. The successful recipient will receive return domestic airfare, accommodation and complimentary registration to attend APS 2027, along with the opportunity to deliver a plenary presentation showcasing their research.

Before starting your application, please read the eligibility and selection criteria on the Rising Star Award page carefully. Applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria will not be assessed.

Before you begin, have the following ready:

✓Your applicant details — name, email, phone, organisation/institution, position, and APS membership number
✓Your personal statement — a one-page PDF or Word document addressing your research track record, research impact, and leadership and contribution to the pain research community
✓Three key publications, each with a summary (max 200 words) and a PDF/Word upload of the publication itself
✓Your proposed plenary presentation title and abstract (max 500 words, including title, authors, affiliations and references)
✓Details of any career interruptions or fractional appointments you’d like considered (optional — no need to disclose reasons)
✓Responses to all narrative sections — we recommend drafting these in a Word document first. Word limits apply to each section.
